Thank you so much for joining me for this Beautiful Mixed Media Butterfly Encouragement Mini Slimline Card, Let's jump right in.
To start I cut down my mini slimline card base, I like mine to be 6 x 6 inches scored at the 3-inch mark, I also cut a matte to be 1/8th of an inch smaller than my base and a watercolour panel to be 1/8th of an inch smaller than my matte. I placed the panel in my splat box and misted it with some clean clear water. I then worked between Salvaged Patina, Tumbled Glass and Hocus Pocus Distress Spray until I was happy with the background. Heat setting between each layer. I brought in the Ripples stencil and some Moonstone glimmer paste for some great shimmer in the background and then set it aside to dry.
I used some Hammermill cardstock and memento tuxed black ink as they are both Copic friendly and stamped out 3 butterflies from the VI mini's #1 stamp set. I used N1, N3, and N5 Copic markers to add some dimension to the butterflies. I then fussy cut out the butterflies and added some white details back into the outside of the wings. I brought in a sentiment from the Butterfly Effect stamp set and white heat embossed it on the same black cardstock I used for the matte then trimmed it down to a small label and adhered it to the centre of one of my butterflies.
Once the panel was dry I adhered the layers together with some liquid glue and used some thin 3D foam squares to attach the butterfly bodies to the panel, leaving their wings free to be curved up for added dimension. For a bit of added shine, I used a glitter pen all over the butterflies wings and brought in some Arctic Breeze pearls. Then called this card done!! I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
