Copic coloured ATC | Brutus Monroe Stamp of the month club March 2020

Updated: Sep 14, 2020

Hello Everyone and thank you so much for stopping by. Today I have for you a Copic coloured ATC, featuring the Brutus Monroe stamp of the month March 2020. I couldn't resist how adorable little pig stamp was and really wanted to make it the main feature on my project so I decided to make an ATC.

In case you don't know what an ATC is, it's an Artist Trading Card, that's 2.5 x 3.5 inches and can be anything your mind can come up with but it's to be traded not sold to another person.

Let's jump in !! I always have my paper precut so I can easily start making whatever project I want. I used Hammermill 100lb paper cut down to 2.5 x 3.5 inches, using my Mini Misti I stamped out the image with Gina K amalgam ink, which is a Copic safe ink. I should have let it dry or heat set it before Copic colouring but I was so excited to get colouring that I didn't give it a chance to dry and it smudged a bit in the pig's face.

For the colouring on the pig, I used RV00, RV23 and RV55, I like to lay down a base of my lightest colour, making it easier for me to blend. The hooves are C9. For the watermelon, I used G02 and G16 on the rind, R05 and R24 for the melon part. For the pig's hat, I used B01, B02 and B04, and finally for the pig's pants, nose and inside of the ears I chose C0, C3 and C5. When I shade the images I always try to add shadow to anywhere one image sits on top of another and I like to work lightest to darkest, then back through darkest to lightest helps me get a better blend of colours.

After the colouring was done I really wanted to create a bit of an aura around the pig, I stamped the image of the pig on some masking paper, fussy cut along the line and laid it on top of my coloured image. Using a blender brush I blended dried marigold distress oxide ink around the pig, with the deepest colour right next to the pig. Before removing the mask, I flicked a little water onto the background for added texture after the water drops dried I removed the mask, for a final touch I added some Nuvo crystal drops in morning dew and a bit of wink of Stella on the watermelon and inside the ears of the pig.

I have a full tutorial video and supply list posted below. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope to see you next Monday for another tutorial.
