Creating Festive DIY Christmas Cards: A Whimsical Twist for Christmas in July


Thank you so much for joining me for this Creating Festive DIY Christmas Cards: A Whimsical Twist for Christmas in July, Let's jump right in.


I started these cards by cutting down my cardstock, The black matte is 1/8th of an inch smaller than the A2 base and the Hammermill panel is 1/4 of an inch smaller than the base leaving me a thin border on each layer. Every step I will do twice as I am making two cards in case I forget to mention that as we go along.


Next, I blended three colours of Oxide ink onto one panel and two colours of oxide ink onto the second panel. I used Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves, and Peacock feathers on the first and Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wildnerness on the second. I used the Botanical 3D embossing folder on both panels then used a black Posca marker to fill in the flat parts of the design.


I cut the sentiment out three times once from white glitter cardstock and twice from white cardstock and layered them up, I also cut out three snowflakes from the same white glitter cardstock for some added interest on the panel. After adhering the layers and adding the snowflakes and sentiment I used a white gel pen to add some small dots all along the black area of the card because I liked how whimsical it looked. For a final touch, I added some gems onto the snowflakes and dry brushed on some collage medium and Rock candy glitter to random areas of the card panel for added shimmer and shine.
