Distress Oxide Blended Birthday Card | Studio Katia Birthday Balloons Duo

Updated: Sep 14, 2020

Hello everyone and thank you so much for stopping by for this week's card, This week I focused on a birthday card for a friend of mine! and I think it turned out pretty great! Let's jump right in.

To start I always cut down my cardstock to size because I like to know what I'm working with. I started with an A2 sized card base which is when folded in half 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches. The black panel is cut down to 1/8th of an inch smaller than the base at 5 3/8 by 4 1/8 and the Neenhan Desert storm cardstock panel is cut to 1/8th of an inch smaller than the black panel at 5 1/4 by 4 inches.

I sprayed a little pixie spray on the backs of both of my stencils in a cardboard box, Pixie Spray is wonderful when working with stencils especially ones with skinny pieces between the images. I placed the first stencil from the Studio Katia Birthday Balloons Duo and chose 3 Distress Oxide ink colours, Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade, colours I knew would overlap and create other beautiful colours. Some of my blending went into the other balloon shapes but I think that it added a bit of character to the balloons.

Once the Distress Oxide ink was dry I used one of the stencils and some Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone, creating some stunning glittery balloon's. I set that panel aside to dry and wanted to do some stamping inside of my card base I took a solid balloon stamp from Simon says stamps Big Birthday Greetings set and stamped out 5 balloons, 3 in the same colours of Distress Oxide ink I used to blend the front panel as well as Wilted Violet and Cracked Pistachio and a sentiment in Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink. I used a Pilot Pen to create strings holding the balloons.

Once my front panel was dry I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from Altenew's Halftone stats stamp set in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and adhered the panels to the card base with Nuvo Deluxe Glue. Using my new embellishment wand from Studio Katia I added a few Studio Katia Sparkling Crystals near the sentiment on the front of the panel.

That's the whole card for this week! I cannot wait until I see you all next time!! A full step by step video is under this post if you would like to check it out, as well as a full supplies list is linked below the video. Thank you so much and I will see you next time.
