Distress Oxide ink Blended Vellum Butterfly Mini Slimline Card Tutorial


Thank you so much for joining me for this Vibrant Rainbow Watercolour Brushstroke Gem A2 Card Tutorial, Let's jump right in.


I started by creating my mini slimline base and layers, for the base, I like to make mine 6 by 6 inches and scored at the 3-inch mark, I cut my black matte to 1/8th of an inch smaller than the base and the panel to be 1/4 of an inch smaller than the base. I used four colours of Distress Oxide ink on my panel in Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flaming, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry, working between the colours until I was happy with how the blend looked. I splashed on some perfect pearls to add extra texture to the background.


I used my die-cutting machine and cut each butterfly out three times, once with a heavyweight vellum to act as the base, once out of iridescent vellum for the highlights and finally out of the same black cardstock I used on the bodies of the butterflies. After I adhered the layers of the butterflies together, I played with the layout until I was happy with how they looked. I adhered the layers down and then just the bodies of the butterflies so that they would be able to move on their own and add a little more interest to the card. For a final touch, I added the Satin Blanc Pearls around the butterflies and called this card done.
