Flourished Alphabet Artist Trading Card | Letter A

Thank you so much for joining me for this Flourished Alphabet Artist Trading Card | Letter A, Let's jump right in.

I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to share this Artist trading card with you guys.. for a few reasons, I really struggled with the lines on this and while making it I wasn't happy with how it was turning out BUT I think it's important to share progress pieces and not just the best work I create so here we go.

To Create this Artist trading card I started with cold press watercolour paper... which was a mistake, If I were to do this again I would have used hot press watercolour paper so that my dip pen lines would have been smoother. Although because of how textured watercolour paper is I think I still would have struggled a bit with the lines. I used Decorative Alphabets and Initials Paperback to sketch out the A in a Typeface I wanted to work with in pencil then filled in the A with purple and Gold inks with a fine paintbrush. Then for the flourishes, I used a Dip pen with Black ink and filled in the areas with the same Gold from the inside of the A. I learned A LOT from creating this Artist trading card and I really should try to make more of the letters now that I have learned from this card.
