Non Traditional Flat Shaker Christmas Cards | Christmas in July 2021


Hello everyone and thank you for joining me for the second video in my Christmas in July series!! Let's jump right in.


I used a cold press watercolour cardstock for my backgrounds and brought in four Distress Oxides Sprays in the colours Carved Pumpkin, Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo and Seedless Preserves. I let each layer of colour dry before adding more colour and set the backgrounds aside to dry fully as I planned to heat emboss on them.


While the panels were drying I cut down some stamp packagine and die cut out four layers of white cardstock and two layers of Pearl glitter cardstock for the word Joy that I planned to use as my sentiment, I adhered the letters together and trimmer out some sub sentiments to add on top of the word Joy.


I brought my panels back in and heat embossed all the snow flakes from Simon Says Stamps Prismatic Snowflake stamp set in Alabaster white embossing powder and heat set them until smooth and melted. I then used 1/4 score tape to secure the stamp packing on three sides leaving one side open to add glitter to the flake shaker pouch I created. Once all the glitter is in the pouch I sealed it with more score tape, then add a few stips of 25mm score tape to the back of the panel and adhere it down to my A2 card base and adhere the sentiment and sub sentiment on top.
