Shaker Christmas Advent Calendar Matchboxes | Tim Holtz Matchbox Bigz Dies Week 5


Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me for week 5 of the advent matchbox calendar!! This week I really wanted to make something fun so I created these snow globe like shaker Match boxes, Let's jump right in!!


I ended up using the same White Heavy Stock as I did from the second week because I thought these would look really good with a white base. I won't go into the box building itself in this post as I talk about it and show it in week 1's post and video which you can find here. I am only going to focus on how I decorated this set of boxes. I pulled out some beautiful patter papers by Moda Scrap that I had in my stash and used some gesso and a flat brush to add some texture and tone down the colour of the pattern papers. I then trimmed down the pattern papers to fit all the sides of the boxes and adhered them down. I used a mixture of the craft pick and drill bits to create a whole large enough to put in my handle.


I used my Sidekick to cut out 3 of each number one out of white litter cardstock and twice out of regular white cardstock and layered them up to give the numbers a bit more dimension, I also die cut the scalloped frame to go around the dimensional dome. I used a piece of white thread to hand my snowflake adornment in the centre of the dome and added Mica Flakes, Rock Candy Glitter and Mini Star Confetti to the centre with my snowflake and adhered down the dome, I added the scalloped frame over top of the dome for a more finished look. I added on the numbers to the top right and brought in a few sparkling gems to finish the boxes off.
