The stepping stones to my dreams

Thank you very much for stopping by!! In the new year I plan to take active steps to achieve my dreams. What are these dreams you might ask??? Let me tell you:

I'll need to give you a little context thought, so hold on as I give a little back story. I have been working as a care-aid on and off for the last 8 years, there have been some great experiences and some hard losses in those years. Early 2018 I was feeling ready to take on something new, I knew I wanted to one day be able to work from home and make an income to support my family but I had no idea how to achieve that. I spent time looking around the internet at different creatives trying to understand how they got to where they did.

I had been following Dawn Nicoles Hand lettering journey for a while, and when she announced a chance to take the same schooling she did at a discounted rate I jumped at the opportunity. Chris (my now husband) and I talked about it and found we could make the payments work, so I signed up and in September 2018 started a Graphic Design Program. After a crazy year of getting and losing a full time job, getting hurt at work, planning a wedding, getting married, and fostering many kitties I managed to complete the program with fairly good grades.

Which was awesome... But what now?? I had some rudimentary skills but I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. After months of trying to find different work and not getting anywhere, I decided I would start a YouTube channel!

See I have always wanted to create but I cannot draw and scrapbooking with its large layouts were over-whelming so I had gotten into making cards and after about a year of that I started also making ATC's (artist trading cards). I've heard from many friends, family and a few strangers, why don't you sell your cards? .... if you've ever started something brand new you'd relate to my thoughts here. First I started with.. is my work even good enough? Who would want to buy these? Then how would I price them? would I even make any money? After I thought about it for a while I decided that it may not be profitable enough for me to make a living... But what if I did instead get my name out there and see what could come my way.

This is where the idea of starting a YouTube channel and blog came about - I would be able to merge two passions together, my love of being creative and being able to share that love with others. It would be awesome to have you along to share in my journey! Even if you feel you aren't a creative person you stopping by to see what I'm up to helps me. If you are able to watch the YouTube video when made and "like" or leave a comment that would help a lot as well. A video with say 30 views is a lot better than one with 2 views.
