Watercolour/Oxide Blended Birds Artist Trading Card | SSS Look For The Rainbows

Updated: Sep 14, 2020

Thank you so much for stopping by!!! This week I have a watercolour/blended Bird Artist Trading Card to share with you, so let's jump right in!!

To start I trimmed down a piece of Canson cold press watercolour paper to 2.5 by 3.5 inches, then placed it into my Mini Misti to stamp out the branch and three birds from the Simon Says Stamp Look for the rainbows stamp set, in VersaMark Clair Nocturn ink. While everything was in my Mini Misti I also stamped the four images out onto Inkadinkadoo Masking paper to create a one layer Artist Trading Card.

After placing all four masks I started my blending using Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks, blending on wherever I thought the colour would look good. Once all the blending was done I removed the masks and started my watercolour with Arteza Real Brush Pens.

I used Walnut Brown, Red, Bumblebee Yellow, Sunset Yellow, Red, and Bright Blue, Placing the majority of the colour in the area I thought would be the darkest and working it out from there with a watercolour brush and some clean clear water. As you can see the colour did bleed out in a few areas, at this point there wasn't much I could do about it show I flicked on some Winsor & Newton Simply White Gouache helping to disguise my mistakes, however, you absolutely could have clear embossed these images and that would have stopped the colour bleeding.

Once everything was dry I placed my Artist Trading Card back into my Mini Misti and added a sentiment, you could skip this step, however as I am primarily a card maker I tend to feel as if the card isn't finished until there's a sentiment added.

If you would like to watch the step by step process I have a video below just for you!! Also, all the supplies I used to make this Artist Trading Card are linked below the video. That's all I have this week and I cannot wait to see you again next Monday!!!
