Watercolour Sparkling Snowflake Christmas Card | 12 Weeks of Christmas Week 9


Hello Everyone and thank you for joining me for week 9 of my 12 weeks of Christmas series, I am pretty excited about how this one turned out so let's jump right in.


I used a piece of Arches Cold Press watercolour paper and taped it down to a hardboard with purple tape to avoid any warping as I wanted to add a bunch of water to my watercolour paper. I used a watercolour pallet from Prima Marketing and mixed up the blue and purple with a lot of water and started to paint my first layer, concentrating the majority of my colour from the left top corner working it down to the right bottom corner. I added water and more colour until I was happy with the result. I think watercolour takes a bit of patience and letting layers dry so see the beauty.


I removed it from the hardboard and used a stitched rectangle die to trim my watercoloured panel down to fit on my A2 sized base. I then used three snowflake dies from Simon Says Stamp, the Lea, Grace and Mini Mandala and cut them out with Pearl Glitter cardstock to add to the front of the watercolour panel. I then stamped out a small sentiment in Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and trimmed it out with the smallest stitched rectangle die and adhered it with thin 3D foam squares above the middle snowflake. I couldn't resist adding a few gems to the centres of the snowflakes for a bit more shimmer and shine.
