How to Create a Whimsical Northern Lights Tri-Fold Slimline Card: Step-by-Step Tutorial


Thank you so much for joining me for this How to Create a Whimsical Northern Lights Tri-Fold Slimline Card: Step-by-Step Tutorial, Let's jump right in.


I started by creating my slimline base and acetate panel, the base is cut to 7 by 8.5 inches and then scored at the 3.5-inch mark creating a 3.5 by 8.5-inch base. The acetate panel was cut to 4 inches and scored at the half-inch mark creating a fold that I will use double-sided tape to adhere to the base. On the first flap of the base, I blended 4 colours of Distress Oxide ink in Salvaged Patina, Wilted Violet, Kitsch Flamingo, and Black soot to create the northern lights on the inside of the card I also stamped a line of trees on the bottom of the panel as a surprise when you open the acetate flap.


Next, I die-cut three tree lines and started adhering them to the acetate panel. I added a black rectangle at the base of the panel and a holographic strip for added interest. Two of the tree lines are on the front of the acetate panel and one is adhered to the back of the acetate panel to give added dimension. To help differentiate the different trees I added some white highlights along the edges.


For the sentiment, I added a label sticker to the black rectangle and then went in with my holographic stars, I added three beside the sentiment for a little added interest and then added a bunch on the sky panel for extra shimmer and shine. I also added some white gel pen dots and perfect pearls splatter to the sky panel for extra texture. I love how this card turned out and I hope you enjoyed reading how it came together!!
